[Moo] Fwd: [gdh] For those who knew him

A great loss indeed, even to those who knew him not. Duke Gyrth was a
court herald without peer, never letting those quiet moments hang as
dead time to those assembled, but rather describing them so that all
might share.

I will never forget a moment from a long-past Ponte Alto investiture,
presided over by Queen Bridget, when a basket of cookies (a payment
from Ponte Alto for the use of a site on Stierbach lands) was passed
from one side to the other of the dais, right under her nose. She
said (too quietly to be heard farther back than the second row), "Some
of those cookies are mine." And Gyrth, in his inimitable fashion,
announced so that all the populace might hear, "Her Majesty would like
to discuss the question of taxes!"

May those who feel his loss most keenly take joy in remembrance.
