[Moo] Pennsic Moment

I have a Pennsic moment I'd like to share.

One of the last evenings of Pennsic before I lost my voice but as it was
starting to give out, we were sitting in our campsite drinking and singing
around the fire. I was in the middle of a song and I noticed a stranger
walk right into our campsite without "Hailing the Camp". I was watching
this person a little concerned about this breach in etiquette. However I
noticed he had an instrument strapped to his back and I was busy so I didn't
say much. The stranger came over to our fire, sat down and listened through
the next person's song. We then greeted the stranger and wrested from him
his name. He said he was Michael Kelly from An Tir and he camped down the
road from us with one of our neighbors. I pointed out his instrument and
asked him to repay hospitality with a song. He drew out his guitar and
played a few songs for us. This man had the most beautiful lilting voice
I'd heard in ages. I was completely blown away. He sang an origional song
about An Tir as well as some traditional Irish songs and a fantasy/sci-fi
song his friend wrote. I asked him if he had a CD and sure enough he had
two. I asked him to recommend one and he said the new one. The older one
was only $10 and had more traditional songs on it but was quite poor sound
quality. The newer CD had a couple of modern fantasy/sci-fi songs on it but
was overall a better value at $15. I bought the new one and have not been
able to stop listening to it. The most difficult part is that since getting
an upper respiratory infection at Pennsic I lost my voice and haven't been
able to sing along in the car on my way to work. It has been a very pleasant
bit of torture. I wrote Michael an e-mail after getting back and plan on
ordering the first CD even if it does have bad sound quality. I am most
definitely a fan. I am including the e-mail he sent me at the bottom of this
message in the event that someone else wants to order a copy. Hope you don't
mind the shameless plug, but honestly I don't get a commission lol.

Marcolo,
You're very much welcome. It was my pleasure to stop by and play, and it
was good to meet some more of my neighbours up on the hill. I'm happy to
hear that you're enjoying the CD.. it's always a good feeling to know that
friends are enjoying something that I've made, and that the time put into
recording it was well spent. It's my hope to start work on a new recording
project sometime soon, though it may be slow going to do while working full
time.
I'd be happy to ship a copy of my first disc out to you. You're correct,
the cost of the old one is $10. Shipping is $5, though if you have any
friends who are going to be ordering discs, you can save on shipping costs
by ordering them together. Beyond packaging and postage costs, the weight of
a cd or two is fairly negligable, so it costs me only a little more to ship
2 or 3 in the same bubblewrap envelope than it does to send a single one.
I can accept paypal (to this email adress) or cheques or money orders
payable to Michael Makowichuk (my legal mundane name) sent to:

Michael Kelly
4811 Elgin St
Vancouver, BC
Canada v5v-4s2

Whether you go by mail or paypal, please make sure to include a quick
reminder of which disc it's for, as well as the mailing adress you want it
sent to. Please feel free to write me if you have any questions or comments,
and in any case I'll look forward to seeing you and your campmates again
next war. Cheers :)
