Good morning....

I would like to talk to you (well, I can email it too...) an idea.

Kristi called me last week with this idea and thought I would be the *best* person for this.

She was trying to find a merchant who sold chairs at Holiday Faire and was thinking that wouldn't it be nice to have a place where people could look up on a site a listing of merchants and what they sell. Now, I know there is a list already that people can go to, but I think merchants have to pay to be listed and there are a lot of "little" merchants who will not go there, and that one is hard to find.

I spoke with Richard this past sunday about creating something like what we have on the Holiday Faire website.
-- This will have listed anyone who has anything for sale in the SCA. Some of these small merchants might be interested in this because we would not be charging money for this. This would be more of a service to those who are looking for SCA merchandise and SCA related items.
--We can get a little more creative with this site and people can enter in the subject item they are looking for, hit enter, and just those merchants names will pop-up.

What I would like to ask is would the Barony allow this "site" to be posted on Stierbach's website? Richard would set it up so I can update it as it is needed. BTW, Richard says he will talk to his wife (the webminister) about this.

I think this would be a nice "feather" in the Barony's cap by offering this to the populas of Atlantia. Merchants on this list would not be limited to only those in the Kingdom (especially since some of our favorite merchants come from outside the Kingdom). This list would also be associated with Holiday Faire (Holiday Faire + Merchant list = oooh, we gotta go there..!!)

We would still keep on the Holiday Faire site the listing of merchants who attended.

This Merchant listing would be completely separate from the Holiday Faire link.

  What do you think??

The baronial officer's meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 28th beginning at 7pm at the home of Ii Saburou Katsumori and Aine Sindradottir in Centreville, VA. This is where we prepare the agenda and topics for discussion at the following Wednesday's baronial business meeting. If you have concerns or ideas you would like to bring to the officers, or if you just want to a closer look at the inner workings of the barony that you might not catch at a business meeting, please contact me or our meeting hosts for directions. All are welcome to attend if it is their desire.

Contact information (email and telephone) for our meeting hosts and for me can be found at http://www.stierbach.org/contacts/contacts.php.

In faithful service do I remain,

Iustinos Ancyrenos, seneschal to the barony of Stierbach
