Hello to all SCA archers & friends of archers.
As many of you are aware, we are in dire need of an outdoor archery range for our archery practices.  We have been shooting at many places, but nowhere we can call "home".

We have been talking to the Fairfax County Park Authority about possibly getting them to open up an archery range within the Fairfax County Parks so that we can hopefully have a permanent archery site available to the public like they do in other counties (Needwood park for example).   We have been told that they are getting closer to making decisions for the park system.

I just got this email today and was hoping we could have help in 2 different ways:

1. go to http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/plandev/greatparks.htm#input , scroll down to the "RECREATION - PLAY YOUR WAY!" box and at the bottom of that box you'll see Share your thoughts on RECREATION.  If you could please click on this and fill it out the way you would like, but please put something about adding archery in the comments box.

2. Join us at the Listening Forum on Thursday, Nov 19th at 7pm in the Government Center room 4/5 to voice our need for space for a public archery program.

Thank you so much and PLEASE at least fill out the comments for us!!

LISTENING FORUM

The Fairfax County Park Authority will hold a
countywide Listening Forum on Thursday,
November 19, 2009 at the Government Center.
This is your opportunity to
join in a casual conversation with Park Authority Director John Dargle,
Jr. Over the past few months Director Dargle has met with dozens of
citizens at similar forums.

What topics or issues concern you?
Do you have a suggestion for streamlining a process or improving
customer service? Maybe you wish to discuss a problem you've
experienced at one of our parks or facilities? Listening Forums are the
right place and time for open, sincere and transparent dialogue, as
well as a lot of listening by Park Authority staff members and
leadership.

So please, join us in rooms 4/5 at the Government Center on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 7 p.m.

For more information, contact the
Public Information Office at
703-324-8662.

Read feedback gathered from previous Listening Forums online.

To request reasonable ADA accommodations or alternative format of materials, call the Fairfax County Park Authority at 703-324-8563,
