Greetings,

Baron Bryce posted the following information on the Armour Archive and
I though I would pass it along.

It appears that there will be two separate opportunities for Stierbach
to participate in both heavy and rapier melee events on Sunday. Seven
person teams for heavy and five person teams for rapier.

Sapphire Joust Armored Activities:

Saturday

Sapphire Joust Chivalry Tourney:
As in the past several years, the Joust will be run with the early
qualifying rounds done in round robin pools, with each pool advancing
one or two fighter to a final 16. This year for the first time and
based solely on sign up interest at the list table, there will be one
shield free pool. If that pool does not fill completely, it may
optionally include shield users to make up the numbers. All other
pools will be seeded according to the senses of fairness of the
armored marshals in charge, the mistresses of the list, Their
Majesties and Their Excellencies. Combatants advancing out of the
shieldless pool are under no obligation to fight shieldlessly in the
final 16.

Finals shall be losses erased, best two out of three, with weapon
choice by reverse precedence in the first two rounds. That's Diamond
Joust Old School, kids
Note to all attendees: The Armored Marshal in charge is well noted for
his intent and ability to start martial activities ON TIME. Do NOT
expect to roll up an hour after the stated time of a tournament start
and sign in to the list!

Ravine
As ever, the popular and shady ravine is available for capture the
flag melees after the conclusion of the Joust.

Field Instruction Time
As sun and interest allows, the field may also stay open after the
Joust and during the Ravine for Tournament of Chivalry style
instruction, or simply for pickups.

Sunday

Novice Tourney: The Mooselodge will sponsor a Novice Tourney open to
all fighters who have been fighting for two years or less, from the
date of their initial authorization. Format will be determined by the
number of entrants.

Buckler Tourney :At the same time as the Novice Tourney, a Buckler
tourney will be run for more experienced combatants. It's a buckler if
Corby says it looks like a buckler. Hint: it should be center grip

By kind permission of Lady Victoria, the buckler tourney will be in
honor of Sir Torvald Gundarsson, and two loaner bucklers, both built
by him, will be available

Kraken Tourney: Order of the Kraken Tourney: Members of the Order wish
to test its mettle against the best that Atlantia might bring forth
against it in matched weapon and team melee. The Krakens will meet any
and all challengers, single, triad and lance (triad - 3 fighters a
leader (4) (lance - 6 fighters and a leader (7) versus lance,
regardless of chosen weapon styles.

St. Aiden Heraldic Display Team Tourney: A team tourney meant to
showcase Heraldic display and team fighting. In brief the rules are as
follows.
1. 5-7 person teams, extra points earned by being in matching livery.
2. Team led by a landed Baron leading a Barony, one point, Baroness 2 points
3. Points can be earned by banners, pennants, cheering sections in
matching regalia, etc, etc.
4. Herald in matching regalia earns a point, and if they entertain the
queen and princess, extra point.

5. Herald must have a container to collect gems that are awarded. Most
gems at the end of the tourney wins.
6. Peers cannot use matching weapons forms.

Rapier Activities:

Saturday

Sapphire Tournament for Rapier:
The tournament will be a points tourney, with the following scoring rules:
1) Each bout has 3 passes. You will fight all 3 passes.
2) Each pass you survive is worth 1 point. If both combatants are
killed in a pass, zero points are awarded for that pass. If both
combatants live, you're doing it wrong.
3) The first round of pairings will be random. After that, pairings
will be determined based on accumulated points.
4) Once a clear top 8 emerges, we will cut to a single-elimination
bracket, one pass per bout.

Sunday

5-Man Melee competition: The Company Of Dragoon Guards will be hosting
a 5-Man Melee competition to be held in the ravine (SHADE) of the
Sapphire site. The format will be round robin so you will get plenty
of fighting.
The conventions will be standard Atlantian with DFB in effect. And
there will be no scarf restrictions on team makeup(so you might want
to start putting your team together early).

Wood Melee: After the 5-Man is done will all adjourn to the woods for
MORE FIGHTING
