Subject: [Moo] vivats to Wiglaf!

I would like to happily announce that Wiglaf was third in the Kingdom Arts and Sciences Persona Pentathalon last weekend! He scored 161 points on the 5 objects he created and wrote about that a person in a single time and culture may have had and used. He is doing early Saxon, and that is a culture we often gloss over as difficult to find information on or not shiny enough...

The top four scores in the Persona Pentathlon were: Mistress Fu'il with 198 points, Lady Christiana Iarina Chaykinaia with 186 points, Lord Wiglaf Sigeberhting with 161 points, and Master Andras with 158 points. The other entrants were: Eleanor Gildenher, Adelric Falke, Ysabeau Ferch Gwalchafed, Baroness Eydis Herjolfsdottir.

For those not familiar with the Persona Pentathalon, one creates 5 objects from a single time and culture that a single person may have had and used. The objects created must fall into 3-5 of 5 catagories. It is a lot of work and preparation, and one not undertaken in a mere month or 2, but it is often the efforts of a year, and a challenge to yourself to learn more about a culture and time of your choice. It does not have to be your own persona.

As a shameless plug for Defending the Gate's A&S competition (March 26 of next month), our competition is "Domestic Items". You can make and show domestic items you have made, and then you will already have one of the items for your own entry into the Persona Pentathalon Competition at next year's KA&S! The rest of the year, challenge yourself to explore your chosen time and culture to create 4 other objects from these cultures...

Yours in service and encouragement, :)
Blitha of Wolfhou
