Unto the denizens of the Merry Rose, greetings from Talorgen, your Kingdom
Web Minister.

Given the clamor over the past couple of days, I am pleased to announce the
creation of a new Kingdom Announcements list.  This list will be used to
pass on official communications from Atlantia's Crown, Officers of State,
and autocrats.  The new list will be available and fully supported by 1
September.

No, I am not asking everyone to join yet another list.  Everything that gets
posted to announce at atlantia.sca.org will be copied to the Merry Rose.  It
may take a little extra time to get there, but if you're happy on the Merry
Rose then you don't need to do anything special to keep getting everything
that is posted.  If you only want the announcements, however, you will be
able to subscribe to that list alone.

It is our intention to make it much easier for everyone who should be
posting official announcements to do so on the main Kingdom web site.  That
will take a bit longer to implement, but once it is done will become an
official communications method for all Officers of State as well as the
Crown.  Once implemented, anything posted there will also be automatically
posted to the announcements list and therefore the Merry Rose as well.

The Merry Rose is an unofficial email list for the Kingdom of Atlantia.
Lord Kendrick Wayfarer has maintained the list for the past 17 years.  It is
not our wish to detract from this list at all - only to provide a conduit
for official communications.

The Atlantian Forums site is another privately operated communications forum
for the people of Atlantia.  It was created about 4 years ago and saw pretty
good activity levels for the first 18 months, before a hosting issue caused
the loss of the main database.  It never recovered after that loss and has
sat mostly dormant for the past two years.   I'd personally love to see it
become active again - those of you who wish to use it are more than welcome
to do so.

If you have questions about the new list, I'll be more than happy to answer
them.  Just ask whatever you'd like to know.
