So today, two such dukes could monopolize the throne by taking alternate
reigns.  If they fight together then at least they can't succeed
themselves.

In addition, in every kingdom I know of, the sitting crown has the right to
refuse participant entry for any reason whatsoever.  I believe enough in
the chivalry of our royalty that I think we already have checks and
balances for that kind of thing.

This is controversial and I think  the BoD is looking at baby steps.  That
said, if you believe strongly about it, please write to the BoD.  They
would love to hear from the populace.
