[Moo] Incoming transplant...

Hi there,

First of all, welcome.

Mu daughter is a student in Fairfax and found a number of good rooms on Craig's List.  We drove around looking at them for a couple of days and she found one that appealed to her at the right price.  If you don't get an offer here, that's a course of action that worked well for us.

Traffic is bad at 7AM. That's part of the morning rush hour, and if you get off at 5PM or so, you get the fun of doing it again in reverse.  You may want to consider mass transit, and that will be a factor in finding an apartment/room should you choose to use it.

I don't live in that area (I love in Fredericksburg to avoid all that mess) but there will be some knowledgable folks here who can advise you, I'm sure.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C. S. Lewis

>I am Lord Robert l'Étourdi (mka Robert Meyer) and have been living in Black Diamond (Radford/Blacksburg/Christiansburg area) for the last year and a half.  I'm a transplant from the Barony of the Rhydderich Hael in the Kingdom of Æthelmearc.  I will be working in the Reston area (Freddie Mac) and am interested in getting involved in Fencing, Archery, thrown weapons and A&S (I make quill pens, bows, arrows and do some calligraphy).

>Currently, I am frantically looking for someplace to live in the area.  If anyone has any good ideas, I'd appreciate hearing about them.  I have heard rumors of horrible traffic situations.  I will probably be going to work at 7AM, so I don't know how much of a problem there will be.  Currently, I have no furnishings, so if anyone knows about a furnished or semi furnished apartment in the area, I'd be grateful.  So far, I've heard that Sterling, Reston, Herndon, Greenbrier and a few other places are reasonable for traffic, going to work.  I will be moving the weekend of the 18th (yes, while everyone else is at YMIR...*grumble*), so time is somewhat critical.
