Greetings!

On Sunday, June 3rd, I am starting an ongoing open class for 2 hours (5 to
7 PM) on Sundays at House Wolfhou to explore the craft of making mail.

I believe that, as with learning to play a musical instrument, working and
learning weekly with like company will be more beneficial than a lecture a
few times a year. My intention is to run an ongoing workshop/round table
format that people can jump in or out of anytime. Experienced folk, bring
your kit and show-off pieces. For those of you starting out, I'll have
loaner tools and starter materials (aluminum rings etc); all you need is
your hands!

In addition to patterns and techniques, I aim to cover a lot of "bigger"
subjects, like construction of winding jigs for making coils from wire,
developing equipment for saw-cutting coils into rings (as
opposed to cutting them by hand with wire-cutters), and get hands-on with
making riveted mail. I also want to investigate wire drawing, and Roman
and Asian techniques of adding plates and silk into mail weaves. Got
questions? Let's answer them.

Bring a project or start a new one; teach, learn, discuss. Come play with
metal!

In Service,
-Jasper of Wolfhou
