<DIV>Greetings friends,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I want to post a very hardy THANK-YOU to all who came out and helped with
the Courtland Elem School Demo this afternoon. This was the
school's Fall Festival and was a Hugh success. The school's theme
this year was of the Renaissance. The school hung up fact
sheets bannerlets leading up to the festival with general
information about the Renaissance and medieval life, and school volunteers made
banners and hung them throughout the school, including two huge ones that hung
on the front wall of the School.</DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV>A large number of children came dressed in medieval costumes, and
their parents really got into the theme as well. There were some very
interesting jester hats, cloaks and assorted costumes...grin</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The fighting demo was a huge hit. Thank you Baron Turgeis
Hakonson for teaching the Marshals class last night. Because of your
generous time and commitment, I had a heavy fighting marshal who oversaw the
heavy fighting demo. Vivat.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The fighters had two set times during the day where they performed their
demo. Overall, they got two short breaks to grab something quick to eat
and drink and then they went back out on the field and answered questions.
They had a huge crowd that remained out on the field all afternoon. There
was also a display table with assorted armor, and rapier equipment.</DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV>Meanwhile inside the school building, there was a "hat making"
table. Felt Robin Hood caps with feathers and flowery head wreaths
were worn by many on this day. Over at the Tavern (cafeteria) Lord
Sigfied McClure was an instant hit with a group of young lads providing
entertainment in learning the art of juggling, and there was a "Have
your portrait painted while you wait-guaranteed to look like you!" (Polaroid
camera, painted banner with insert head here) that saw a steady bit of
business.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Thank you to everyone who came out and made this day special to the
children of Courtland Elem. School. The PTO President, The Principal of
the School and the Festival Organizer was thrilled with our
participation at their event. </DIV>
