A lot of period paintings show women wearing chains as necklaces.<br>Your class should be about what was worn in period, including chains. You MAY want to include pictures of what is considered a knight chain so people would know what to avoid.

First, let me say, I Know The SCA Policy On Wearing Large (Knightly) Chains and variations in various kingdoms (so please don't re-explain them to me instead help me make an informed decision.) One of the most popular period style jewelry are large chains made different ways, typically unadorned. However, that is reserved for the KSCA and I respect that. It is hard to teach jewelry without touching on chains. I have asked friends from around the known world how to approach this and have received many answers.

I fear that if a person is a beginning or would be jeweler they will find these paintings and then may simply do something. I feel it is far better to head that off if at all possible.
