The East meets West Gorgeous Garb Contest

If you have a dream of making a gorgeous set of garb to enter in an A&S
competition, now is your chance--jewels, lace, silk, brocades,
embroidered woolens, damask, feathered hats, modest veils--anything you
can document for the 14th to the 16th centuries!  This competition will
award two prizes--one to the maker of the most fabulous period-based
set of garb as would be worn by a European personage meeting a Japanese
court personage; the other to the maker of the most fabulous
period-based set of garb as would be worn by a Japanese personage
meeting a European visitor to the Japanese court.  Front and back
photos of someone wearing the garb encouraged. Documentation
required.  All garb to be worn during evening court for the edification
and adornment of "Treachery on the Tokaido" [a.k.a. T&T], an event to
be held Saturday, October 29, 2005, in the firehall of Hampstead,
Maryland, in the Barony of Bright Hills.

This competition is being sponsored by Ingeborg i Trondheim of Bright
Hills.  Email: ingeborg_sca at yahoo.com.

Silk & More

Another fine contest at T&T!  Whether you are a beginner at period
crafts or an expert, this contest is for you.  Any item that is all
silk or partially made from silk may be entered: i.e., silk floss
embroideries; a carved wooden box lined with silk, Japanese silk cords,
clothing or accessories, toys, anything in any SCA period is acceptable
as long as some part of it uses silk.  Documentation appreciated but
not required. This competition is also being sponsored by Ingeborg i
Trondheim of Bright Hills.  Email: ingeborg_sca at yahoo.com.
