Subject: [Announcements] Proposed change to Corpora X.A.
Date: Fri, 6 May 2005 15:23:13 +0000

Unto the membership of the SCA, greetings:

At its March conference call, the Board of Directors enacted a number of
changes to the sections of the governing documents dealing with sanctions
against individuals. These changes had been put out to the membership for
comment, and a number of very thoughtful comments were sent in. The Board
wishes to thank all those who took the time to send us their input; several
of the suggestions that involved minor word changes for clarity were
incorporated into the final version.

However, a few changes that the Board thought were well worth considering
were deemed too substantive to enact without requesting comment on those
specific changes. One of those proposed changes appears below:

Corpora X.A., paragraph 1, currently reads as follows:

Royalty may sanction subjects of the realm and visitors thereto, for just and
stated cause. Royal Sanctions are in effect from the moment of proclamation,
but a notice must be published in the next available issue of the kingdom
newsletter if the sanction is to remain in effect. The specific cause and
occasion of the sanction must be explained in writing to the sanctioned
individual, but must not be published in the kingdom newsletter or otherwise
made public.

Proposed addition to the end of the above paragraph:

Baronial Coronets may not impose sanctions directly, but may request that the
Crown and/or Principality Coronet impose sanctions.

Commentary on this proposed change to the Governing Documents is due by July 31,
2005.

Comments are strongly encouraged and can be sent to:
