Several restaurants within a short distance (some within walking distance) of the library, in the strip mall-like shopping center across the street from the library: Ruby Tuesday, Logan's Roadhouse, Ben & Jerry's, Don Corleone's Brick Oven Pizzeria, Ted's Montana Grill, Famous Dave's Barbecue, and Baja Fresh. (There's also a place that sells smoothies -- can't remember the name! -- and a Starbuck's, and a McDonald's.)

(Across Route 7 from there is a Don Pablo, Outback Steakhouse, Pacific Rim Cuisine, That's Amore, and Wendy's.)

Further west, by the Border's and Regal Cinema, there's a Chipotle, Taste of Vietnam, O'Faolain's Irish Restaurant, Aoba Sushi, Cheng's Oriental, and another place with smoothies & health food whose name I can't remember. (There's also a Subway.)

(Across Route 7 from there is a Sweetwater Tavern, TGI Friday's, and Olive Garden.)

On the other side of the Regal Cinema, there's another strip mall (by the Safeway) with Kobe Steakhouse, Los Toltecos, El Estribo, a Bengalese restaurant, the Deli Formerly Known As The Hunter Mill Deli (same menu, it's just that it changed ownership), and yet another MacDonald's.

Then there's the restaurants in & around the mall (which has a food court): Chevy's, Red Robin, Macaroni Grill, Pizzeria Uno, Red Lobster, and Lone Star Steakhouse. (No Maggiano's anywhere near there, unfortunately, but it's owned by the same parent company as Macaroni Grill.)

There are good restaurants further out than these, but at least these, the directions from the library to the restaurant are reasonably simple.

Baja Fresh, Chipotle, or The Deli Formerly Known As The Hunter Mill Deli (I think it's called JP's Deli, or something like that) are affordable and probably the best bet for a casual & affordable place. (Baja Fresh is the closest to the library, out of the three of those.) I'd recommend Pacific Rim Cuisine (at least for those who've never been there -- most of the restaurants in and around Sterling are chain restaurants, and Pacific is pretty unique), but it's kind of pricy. O'Faolain's is cozy but nice.
