[Moo] Question on Canvas "Tapestries"

Good morning, gentle cousins!

I have a question... can anyone point me to online resources or search terms
that will actually generate results (grin) for creating canvas tapestries
and floor cloths, like the beautiful backdrop used by the Barony for Court
(the stone fireplace)? I have a number of yards of wonderful canvas and a
"wall cloth" project has been added way down the line on my list of stuff
(behind a nearly-done fighter tabard, a period chair, the cushion for that
chair, clothes for fencing in... you see where this is going... *grin*) but
I have no idea what other supplies to lay in so that when the fit strikes I
can get to work.

I seem to remember seeing a Colonial floor cloth site that discussed priming
the (unwashed?) canvas with a particular kind of paint, then using either
the same paint or something different in order to create the actual design
over the priming. Is that the method that was used for the Stierbach
backdrop?

Any ideas or suggestions anyone has that they would be willing to share, are
most welcome. Thanks in advance!

in Service,
Meli
