Subject: Coronation Stierbach Cavalry Activities

(sorry again for the multiple posts)

Coronation / Stierbach Baronial Birthday
Cavalry Info Packet

You and your horse are invited to the Coronation of Vladimir and
Kalisa and Stierbach’s Baronial Birthday.

We are planning a “journey through Atlantia” timed tourney, a
procession and possibly jousting. There may also be a trail ride.

There will be authorizations offered for those who contact the Marshal
of the Horse prior to the event. Those wishing to authorize MUST
contact the MotH and make arrangements prior to the event. Anyone
wishing to authorize should have already attended at least one
practice. The Liability class and authorizations are planned for
Friday evening beginning around 6 pm. You MUST HAVE ALREADY READ THE
RULES for Atlantia and the SCA concerning equestrian activities if you
plan to authorize. (You will be asked questions pertaining to the
rules.)

The games we plan to play are the reed chop, beheading the enemy,
jousting at the quintain, jousting at rings, pig-sticking and possibly
jousting. There will be warm-up (practice) time allotted prior to the
tourney. The tourney will be a timed tourney where your time will
start when you begin the first game and stop when you complete the
last game. You will be allowed one attempt to redo a game if your
horse balks, but your time will not stop while you reset for that
game. The winner will be the one with the highest score and shortest
time. Lord Alain has provided us with those nifty score cards to make
things run smoother and easier and make the MOL’s job easier.

Currently we are planning a long break in the middle of the day
between the tourney and the procession to give the horses a break
during the heat and a chance for you to participate in other areas of
the event. Should riders wish to ride during this break, another
tourney could be arranged. Please let the Marshal of the Horse know if
you wish to ride during this time.

There was some talk of going on a trail ride on Sunday morning –
fairly early. Lady Ailenor de Bathe is in charge of the trail ride.

The site is the Clarke County Fairgrounds, 890 West Main St., Berryville, VA
Site opens at 11 am, but the Marshal of the Horse will not arrive
until 3 pm at the earliest on Friday (probably closer to 5 or 6 pm).
Do no arrive on site with horses before 11 am. Lady Ailenor,
Marshal-in-training, will be checking Coggins papers for those horses
arriving before the Marshal of the Horse arrives. Health certs are not
required at the site, but find out if they are required by the states
you are passing through to get to the event. The MotH recommends that
you carry a copy of your horses’ shot records with your Coggins papers
while traveling with your horse. Virginia officials have been known to
ask for papers when you stop at rest areas.

Contact Lady Ailenor if you would like to stable your horse in one of
her paddocks off-site – PRIOR to the event.

There is no additional fee for the horses. Stalls are NOT available.
You may high-line, picket, trailer tie or portable pen your horse.
Please camp with your horse prior to bringing it to the event.
Electric Tape portable pens may be used, but you must bring your own
power source and all electrified fencing must be clearly marked.

The exact schedule of activities will revolve around the time of Last
Court and First Court.

See the event flyer for information on other activites,
pre-registration and directions.
