>From the Board of Directors and President:

As the Directors and Corporate Staff informed the membership of the SCA in
April of this year, the SCA, Inc. has been named in two civil suits based on
alleged sexual misconduct of an adult toward minors. Unfortunately, the
individual accused of the misconduct was a member of the SCA. The SCA did
not sanction the alleged misconduct, had no prior knowledge of the
misconduct, and had never received any complaints concerning the adult
involved prior to his arrest. The adult involved has since been subject to
absolute banishment from the SCA.

As an update, the Director's and Corporate Staff want to inform the
membership that the SCA, Inc.'s insurance company has denied coverage for
both suits (based on a child abuse exclusion in the policy, which is a
normal exclusion in corporate insurance policies). We further wish to inform
the membership that the insurance company has filed a
lawsuit against the SCA, Inc. to enforce the exclusion. This action is
normal in a case such as this. The loss of coverage applies only to the
above mentioned civil suits and does not affect the SCA's insurance coverage
for other activities. The Directors and Corporate Staff cannot comment
further on the coverage action, or on any other pending legal action.
However, we will continue to update the membership of the SCA as
appropriate.

Comments are strongly encouraged and can be sent to:
