For anyone who is interested, this coming Sunday, October 2nd, at 1pm, there
will be a "wine and cheese" reception for Bumpers (
https://reservations.workhousearts.org/Info.aspx?EventID=50) at the Lorton
Workhouse Art Center. This is a venue for the study of historical martial
arts within the larger Workhouse community--currently Steve Hicks and Steve
Reich are teaching 16th century Portuguese great sword (montante), though
there has been talk of other classes as well, and I know that Brad Waller
also has some training classes going on. There will be food and
refreshments as well as a chance for people to come and see what is going on
and what it is like.

They are hoping that a good turnout will convince the Workhouse Arts Center
to allow them to continue to teach and practice in this space.

If you are interested in checking it out, head to the Workhouse Arts Center
in Lorton, on Rt. 123. The montante class is normally held in building 11.

If you have any questions, feel free to ping me and I'll answer what I can
or pass it along.

-Josh

PS: This is not/not an SCA event, but I thought some SCAdians might be
interested.
