Heavy Combat Activities:

There is a team competition. Teams will consist of no more than 5 combatants. Two teams will face each other at the Gate. Each will take a turn at attacking the Gate and then Defending the Gate. Victory goes to the team who survives.

Once the competition is over, we will have time for larger team melee practice at the Gate. The Gate will be in a different location this year that should allow combat archery when attacking or defending the Gate.

Contact Lord Stefan von Kiel, steve_knerr at hotmail.com if you have any questions.

Rapier Activities:

Rapier combat at Defending the Gate will be fought in teams of 5. Each team may consist of 5 members with no more than 3 White Scarves. Combat will be in a wooded area. Each team will have a flag that the other team will attempt to capture. Each team will also have a "gaol" as well. Upon being killed, that fighter is "captured" and escorted to gaol. The "prisoner" must be escorted by the person who killed them, or by someone else on their team. In order to be "liberated" from gaol, someone from the captured fighter's team must physically "tag" them and escort them back to the "home" spot. At that point they are now able to resume trying to capture the opponent's flag.

Points will be given to the teams who remove the opposing team's flag from its spot and return it to their own "home" spot. Combat will be timed. Death from behind will be allowed in some of the scenarios, but not all.

Archers, one and all, young and old, skilled and novice, are invited to the first target archery event of the 2010 Season. We have targets to entertain and challenge all levels. Be part of a team to score points for your Barony, Shire, etc.

Youth are encouraged to attend and participate on a team--the team will earn an extra point for a youth participant. In addition to the team competition, there will be a youth competition with a special prize awarded to the highest scoring youth, age 14 or under. All youth who participate will receive a prize.

Royal Rounds will begin at *10:00 a.m. for those who would like to update their rank. The competition will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a break for lunch. Borrower gear will be available.
