Ranulph has been working on a repeating cross bow. There are some extant Chinese pieces. He has been working on making the repeater shoot combat legal bolts... the project was put on hold though as the combat bolt rules kept changing. But you are right, the fighters dont like to watch the skies for incoming threats.

Well its documented, but no actual parts were found, so some scadians call it a myth. I think they just don't want to get killed quickly lol. The mechanism used by mythbusters is non period per say, well not all of them. But the episode was on yesterday. It's a new episode, so I doubt it'd be out on any website yet, but I still have it saved on my dvr.
