Greetings from IsDihara al Hakima bint durr, also known in the Society
as Lady Ysabeau Madeleine de Gascogne (formerly of Ponte Alto).
Mundanely I am known as Karen Beary Parent.

Last month I joined a lace guild and yesterday attended my first guild
meeting. During said meeting the question was raised about the
possibility of attracting anyone interested in learning to make either
bobbin lace or tatting through SCA channels. I volunteered to
investigate on behalf of the Piedmont Lacers Guild of Virginia, since I
have been active in the SCA in the past.

While my forte is tatting, I believe that bobbin lace was used within
the period timeframe, and therefor could be a topic of interest. I do
not know if a lace-making group is already in place in Stierbach. The
President of the PLG of Virginia has indicated to me that she would not
be available to travel outside of her area of Remington, Virginia, in
the next several months to teach beginning bobbin lace, as she is up to
her shirt collar in wedding preparations for her daughter. So any
interested parties would need to make the drive to Remington, VA, to
learn the basics of bobbin lace.

I, however, would be pleased to teach anyone who may be interested the
basics of making tatted lace in my home upon request or at a group
activity within the barony. I live in Woodbridge, VA. It should be noted
that tatting is not documentable within period.

I look forward to hearing from you soon,

Warm regards,

IsDihara
